WebTec successfully launches Tel-e at Computer Faire

Johannesburg, 21 May 2003

Tel-e has been developed by WebFone (a division of WebTec) and allows a user to link directly to a Web site by just typing in a Tel-e activated number in the Tel-e block.

Tel-e takes two of the most popular technologies, cellular phones and the Internet, and combines them to offer you a simple, fast and effective business solution.

Announcing a major breakthrough in Web technology

How often have you looked for a Web site, but couldn`t remember the Internet address or wasted hours searching for a particular site, only to find hundreds upon hundreds of unrelated sites?

Tel-e is the answer to prevent customers from experiencing the same problems. With Tel-e, your cellular or landline phone number becomes your Web site address.

Tel-e seamlessly integrates Web site addresses with your cellular number to provide a fast and effective gateway to your site.

How it works

Using Tel-e is easy, all you need to do is enter the Tel-e enabled telephone number in one of the participating Web site, click on go and you`re connected to the required site.

WebTec has been in discussions with a wide range of Web sites and portals to include the Tel-e activation block. Iafrica.com and Tel-e.co.za are live already with some of the bigger sites going live soon.

All sites also act as resellers for the Tel-e to their clientele and databases, allowing them to find sites easier.

"With Tel-e we believe we are contributing toward making the move from the offline market to the online markets as seamless as possible," says Andre de Wet, director of Sales at WebTec, "allowing the public to use one point of contact, regardless of the way they`d like to get in touch with you."

The success of launching Tel-e at the Computer Faire has been overwhelming with over a 1 000 Web sites being linked to mobile numbers over the four-day period. WebTec is constantly looking for channel partners, service providers and active Web sites to take the Tel-e campaign to all Internet users.

Tel-e is a Web-based program which uses telephone numbers instead of Web site addresses. It makes life easier for Internet users by removing all the uncertainty and confusion about Web site addresses.

WebTec

WebTec was started late in 2001 to capitalise on a range of products and related business experience that the directors bring to the company. These products are geared specifically to make the Internet experience easier and safer and to bring it more in line with traditional business models.

WebTec has identified significant market opportunities and pinpointed new technologies ideally suited for the online and offline market. These technologies are designed toward making the Internet experience more efficient and bringing the traditional markets and online markets closer together, geared specifically toward making it easier, safer and faster.

Areas of concentration are based around Internet security, subscription solutions, accessibility and mobile communications. As the Internet develops we find that as popularity and usage increases, more people are joining the Net than actually understand what lies behind it. WebTec technologies endeavour to make this switch from traditional to online as painless and user friendly as possible by allowing users to seamlessly adapt to the online community.
