Westcon announces aggressive new Nortel price reductions on switches and routers

Westcon SA has announced an aggressive new pricing structure, recently released by Nortel Networks` international head office, as part of Nortel`s continuing to go head-to-head with the current market leaders in all aspects of enterprise . The new significant strategic price reductions are likely to have a major impact on the marketplace and create considerable mindshare for Nortel.

"This latest announcement of substantial price reductions on BayStack 350, 410 and 450 Switches, following hard on the heels of the recent price reductions on Nortel Routers, now offers the best price-performance in their class," says John David, Nortel Product Manager at Westcon SA. "The BayStack 450-24T is the highest-density stackable switch in the industry, offering up to 224 ports in a stack."

Apart from notable price reductions in the products themselves, which Nortel maintains offer the best value in their class, David believes that the most important savings to enterprise clients will come from the new per-port price reductions. In their determination to acquire both mind and market share, Nortel have slashed their per-port price by up to 25%.

Since budgets and costing for network requirements are usually based more on port costs than on the capital cost of the equipment, this is sure to attract serious attention for Westcon-Nortel from potential network customers.
