Westcon announces bi-directional BandwidthManager

In order to better differentiate service levels and maximise revenues, many ISPs and web hosting companies require the ability to limit customer bandwidth. To facilitate this need, IMC Networks, represented in SA by networking technology products channel provider Westcon has developed an iMcV size 10 Mbps Ethernet modular device.

BandwidthManager is a low cost, two port modular device that enables service providers to easily set and control bi-directional bandwidth from 64 bps up to 10 Mbps in as low as 1 bps increments.

"The new module installs in IMC Networks` new iMediaCenter chassis, available from tabletop models up to 18-slot rack-mountable chassis with redundant AC or DC power," says Miles Goddard, IMC channel manager at Westcon.

He notes that ease of configuration and operation enables ISPs to quickly adjust the allocated uplink or downlink speed to meet a wide range of customer bandwidth requirements.

Due to the modular form factor and three available chassis options, this product will be especially attractive for web hosting, server collation and ISP customers who wish to have an SNMP manageable, rack-mountable centre for controlling customer bandwidth, or use it to make sure that they are not oversubscribing their leased lines.
