Networking distributor Westcon Group has created Comstor Worldwide, a new global business focused on its Cisco solution offerings.
Cisco makes up half of Westcon's global revenue, and the new division will be led by long-time Comstor executives William Corbin and Jon Pritchard. It will have its own dedicated management structure and its own profit and loss centre.
The new Comstor Worldwide management structure enables local Comstor operations to leverage shared services and operational capabilities.
In conjunction with the new organisation, Comstor will expand its geographic coverage to include Canada and Brazil - countries in which it already has a significant presence, with Westcon Convergence and Westcon Security, its two other major business practices.
Dean Douglas, president and CEO of the Westcon Group, says: “The creation of Comstor Worldwide is truly a milestone in our company, and will enable us to better manage growth and investments in our Cisco-oriented business, in which we see tremendous untapped growth potential.
“Having our Cisco-oriented offerings aligned in a single, global business unit will amount to an unprecedented opportunity for our resellers around the globe,” he adds.
Last April, Westcon was the first distributor to sign a global distribution agreement with Cisco, allowing it to streamline global transactions for channel partners.
Comstor's global solutions programmes, which include OneNetwork, OneVoice, OneDefense, OneWave and OneS, are available in dozens of countries across six continents, and deliver information and tools to help Cisco-oriented manufacturers and resellers become more competitive, both locally and internationally.
