Westcon Software Solutions is pleased to announce that is has, for the second year running, been awarded the title of Microsoft Volume Licensing and Cloud Distributor of the Year for 2014.
The awards, handed out at Microsoft's premier partner event hosted at the Inanda Polo Club in Sandton, celebrate the efforts of partners and distributors, highlighting the success attained by these over the past year.
The title of Microsoft Volume Licensing and Cloud Distributor of the Year for 2014 is specifically attributed to the distributor which has managed to attain growth in sales, partner development and investment, as well as shown innovation in its approach to taking Microsoft solutions to market.
"Building on 2013's success, over the past year the Westcon Software Solutions team has placed even more focus on driving partner enablement, as well as stimulating conversations around the cloud, and working with customers to help them understand how they can help their own clients make the move from pure on-premise purchases, to cloud-based ones," says Leane Hannigan, business unit director, Software Solutions at Westcon.
"The success of 2014 being earmarked as the year of the cloud has been phenomenal and has highlighted just how hungry South African business is for cloud-based solutions - which has shown in our numbers and which we can now also say has been recognised and lauded by our vendor partner Microsoft," she adds.
In 2014 the Westcon software team made significant investment into training its own team around the Office 365 offering, the launch of the Azure on Volume Licencing programme, as well as creating cloud-based services for its resellers to compliment these. This is over and above continuing to service and support on-premise volume licensing clients.
"With the Westcon Comztek merger behind them, Westcon Group takes the proverbial mantle as the premier volume licensing, cloud development and SPLA distributor in South Africa. Congratulations Westcon," says Tracey Newman, Channel Sales Manager SMB at Microsoft.
Other key areas Hannigan says are attributable to it receiving this prestigious award is the companies continued focus on and development of training programmes, reseller incentive programmes, one-on-one engagements with customers and its clients as well as producing creative marketing campaigns to support these.
"If we look at the figures, our Office 365 partner reach grew by a staggering 1 140%, showing exactly how hungry partners are for Microsoft's cloud-based solutions, and exactly how well we are positioned to meet and, more importantly, support this demand," she says.
"Looking ahead I think all the efforts made in 2014 will form an excellent foundation of where we as a growing Software Solutions business are looking at taking our partners and their clients - and that is into and beyond the cloud," ends Hannigan.
