Converged communications distributor Westcon SA has unveiled an online e-commerce store for resellers, which is part of its cloud services strategy.
According to the company, the first phase of the Westcon Online Store, which went live this week, will let Kaspersky resellers place and track orders as well as transact directly with the distributor online.
Westcon security resellers can use their credit cards to make purchases without having to apply for additional lines of credit from their banks.
Andrew Potgieter, Westcon Security business unit manager, says: “The system integrates directly with Kaspersky in Moscow's own licensing engine, so as soon as payments are processed, the licences are activated.”
Potgieter claims the initial phase of the system is merely the tip of the iceberg as to where the services will be taken in the future.
“As per the first phase, we are only allowing customers with credit card facilities to transact with the system; this includes our resellers throughout African countries, where we have a presence as defined by Kaspersky,” adds Potgieter.
“In phase two of the project, we will roll out full integration of the system with the warehousing and logistics systems of our business; here, customers with credit with us will be able to transact with the system.”
Jacques Malherbe, CEO of Westcon SA, says the initiative moves the distributor into new territory and expands the way it engages with its partners.
