Symetrix Business Solutions, Navision and Microsoft answered this question in a seminar held at Microsoft's offices in Sunninghill, Johannesburg, on the 8th May 2001. With speakers and product demonstrations from the three hosting companies, attendees were thrilled at the display of technological innovation and information. A mini-expo with ExpandIT, Harvey Jones (Knosys), Visisoft and Navision showcased products that integrate with the Navision suite of products. Neville Levinthal, Managing Director, Symetrix Business Solutions spoke about the New Economy, where it is, where it is going and the importance of having a strategy that will take businesses into the new Internet economy.
The Internet is going to revolutionise the way that companies do business. Navision demonstrated their WAP enabled User Portals, wowing the audience with how simple it is to access your business via the Internet, using your cellular phone! Microsoft has developed a tool that can help business systems integrate with each other. This language is called XML. David Marcus of Microsoft spoke about the future of business technology with their BizTalk Server 2000, and the necessity to build relationships with companies such as Navision and Symetrix in order to build a strong e-marketplace.
The messages about the future of business and the move towards a new electronic and information driven economy were strongly emphasised.
