What's the difference?

Johannesburg, 29 May 2012

Stemming from the fact that there is much confusion surrounding supplier 'speak' when it comes to warranties and guarantees, Phonatics has undertaken to add clarity to this oft-misunderstood terminology and to highlight the impressive warranties its products afford end-users.

A warranty is general coverage on a product that covers most things that could cause the product to stop working. A warranty is good for a specific period of time. It is there primarily to show customers that the product is in good condition when they acquire it, and if something happens while the product is still relatively new, they will not lose their money. A warranty usually only offers repairs or replacement of a faulty product or faulty parts within that product. You cannot expect to return the product and get your money back.

A guarantee is more of a goodwill statement that any service or product provided will meet customer approval. A guarantee may or may not have a time constraint. Guarantees are usually more open-ended than warranties and have fewer rules attached. If the product or service provided to the customer does not satisfy the customer, and meets the terms of the guarantee, the customer can expect a monetary refund or an exchange of one product for another.

All products under the Phonatics umbrella carry a standard 12- or 24-month factory warranty. Also, all its products are supported locally and it prides itself on its workmanship.

In addition to these warranties, Phonatics has two new service offerings on its Freemate headsets. First off is the 'Freemate Top Up Cover', at R299 excluding VAT, per headset, for which Phonatics will cover all damages to the product, including malicious damage, negligence and product failure for the headset warranty period.

The second service offering is the 'Freemate Top Up Cover +', which extends each headset's warranty period by a further 12 months over and above the standard warranty on the product. The 'Freemate Top Up Cover +' is available for R99 excluding VAT per headset.

Due to the fact that Phonatics' entire product range is systematically captured on its in-house barcoding system, clients can rest assured that each item purchased is uniquely coded and thereby able to be tracked to maintain individualised product warranties.

Specifically for its call centre clients, Phonatics is able to provide this unique barcoding system with free tracking software, allowing clients to internally track their headsets.
