Wii unveils virtual console

Nintendo will later today launch a new feature on the Wii that will make gift giving this holiday season a little more convenient, says Daily Tech.

A new gifting function will allow users with Wii to send virtual console games to those with whom they have traded 'Friend Codes`.

Virtual console games are purchased from the Wii Shop Channel at a starting price of 500 Wii points. Classic NES titles typically start at 500 points, SNES games at 800 and N64 at 1 000. Virtual console games from other classic systems such as the Sega Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, MSX and Neo Geo are also available.

Microsoft on Monday began displaying mobile advertising to MSN Mobile customers for the first time, in hopes of generating additional revenue from the budding business, reports Information Week.

Now when mobile users in the US visit Microsoft`s MSN Mobile Web page on their cellphone and smartphone browsers, they will see banner and text ad placements from companies like Paramount Pictures and Jaguar Cars North America. Both have signed up as Microsoft`s early partners.

When displaying the ads, Microsoft said it will conform to the US mobile advertising guidelines supplied by the Mobile Marketing Association, a non-profit made up of agencies, advertisers, device manufacturers, carriers, retailers, software providers, and service providers that want to bring marketing to mobile devices.

Symantec has introduced Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac, featuring support for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, says PC World.

The software furnishes vulnerability protection technology, which watches the Web application layer. Norton AntiVirus automatically detects and removes viruses, scans and cleans downloaded files and e-mail attachments, and protects against software vulnerabilities.

To address the growth of multi-platform PC and Mac environments, Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac scans for both PC and Mac vulnerabilities, viruses and macro viruses.
