As more and more successful entrepreneurs are realising, 'competitive intelligence' or CI is a key ingredient in building sustainable competitive advantage to compete effectively in the global knowledge economy.

Companies that do not engage in competitive intelligence or embrace a culture supportive of CI could well become extinct in the near future as they face competition from unsighted and non-traditional sources.

With that in mind, we are inviting you to take part in a brief online survey that aims to establish the use and prominence of CI in South Africa. The survey consists of just 24 questions, of which 80% require a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer.

The study will provide The Innovation Hub with a valuable insight into the interest of South African hi-tech companies in CI, and will enable us to better serve the ongoing needs of all members of our extended community through the provision of a full suite of value-adding services.

Importantly, the findings will allow the Hub to tailor specific offerings that best meet market demand and add maximum value to members of the Hub's 'intelligent community' network.

For the purposes of completing the survey, competitive intelligence should be considered as "a process aimed at obtaining information from an organisation's environment to produce actionable information about the business environment, competitors and the company itself for use by the company to improve its competitive advantage in its chosen marketplace". Certainly sounds like something that should be of particular interest to your company!

And best of all, those who take a few moments to respond to the short questionnaire by 31 March will be entered into a draw for a wonderful prize from kalahari.net.
