Windows 7 boosts language interfaces

Microsoft is expanding the language support for the latest iterations of its Windows 7 and Office 2010, reports Softpedia.

Specifically, no less than 59 new Language Interface Packs (LIPs) will be made available. The new LIPs are designed to integrate with both Office 2010 and Windows 7. In addition, the Redmond company will also unveil four LIP additions for the next generation of its development platform, Visual Studio 2010.

“Allowing for people to use and build in their native language helps emerging markets build a stronger work force, and ultimately better prepares employees to help grow their local economies,” says Lauren Woodman, senior director of Microsoft's government and engagement programs.

Micro Peripherals expands into education

Micro Peripherals (Micro-P) will unveil an education division that will be headed up by the former sales director of reseller Lanway, states Computing.co.uk

Going live on 1 March, the new 10-strong arm will incorporate the resources of Micro-P's audio-visual division. Former Lanway sales director Richard Bovingdon will head up the team.

Bovingdon says his team will drum up demand among local authorities, academies and primary capital projects before pulling the opportunities back up to reseller partners. It will focus on cutting-edge technologies such as touch interactive technology and 3D projectors.

Partnership empowers next-gen IT professionals

The goal of this collaboration is to increase the number of students engaged in technical pursuits with the long-term benefit of strengthening business and society through the use of technology.

IEEE, the world's largest professional association with more than 395 000 members in 160 countries, together with Microsoft, will provide its student members with access to the latest Microsoft servers, development tools and e-learning.
