Windows 8 embraces mobile broadband

and mobile connections, TechSpot says.

Group programme manager on Microsoft's devices and team, Billy Anders, has published a post on the company's Building Windows 8 blog that outlines steps taken to improve the wireless connectivity experience.

In Windows 8, mobile broadband is being integrated alongside traditional WiFi for a full wireless experience. This was included in Windows 7 as well, but there were several hurdles that had to be overcome before connecting through a mobile device such as third-party drivers and software. To eliminate this roadblock, Microsoft worked with mobile broadband hardware partners to develop a universal driver that will work with all mobile devices and eliminate the need for additional drivers or software.

Anders wrote: “We looked at the fundamentals of wireless connectivity and re-engineered Windows 8 for a mobile and wireless future, going beyond incremental improvements,” Online Broadband Guide reveals.

Also, the new wireless network settings in Windows 8 allow a user to see and connect to all available MB and WiFi networks from one convenient user interface, GMA News writes.

"We made sure that this interface is consistent and allows you to think less about which network you want to connect [to]. Windows does this by starting with the right default behaviours, and then it gets smarter by learning your network preferences over time," Anders said.
