Windows Server 2008 R2 manufacture-ready

Microsoft has released to Windows Server 2008 R2, which incorporates many hundreds of bug and fixes from the previous server version released in June of 2008, reports ZDNet.

It also includes significant enhancements in the areas of virtualisation and networking. Windows Server 2008 R2, initially titled in early betas as 'Windows Server 7' is to be marketed alongside Windows 7 client and shares the same core operating system improvements.

Many of the improvements are centred on the Hyper-V class 1 hypervisor that ships with the product.

Hansatech selects Epicor ERP

Hansatech EMS, UK specialists in bespoke electronic contract manufacturing and assembly services, has installed Epicor Software's enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor 9, at its Poole site, states RFPConnect.

Designed specifically for the EMS market, the system's in-built functionality, total cost of ownership and with the latest standards were key selection criteria for achieving improved process efficiencies, manufacturing cost visibility and enhanced profitability.

“We regularly health-check our business operations to ensure our manufacturing solutions remain competitive,” said Paul Gill, MD of Hansatech EMS. “With the Epicor 9 system we believe we now have the optimum package to provide what customers want without increasing our overall cost base.”

Concepts NREC, Hermle partner

Concepts NREC, a provider in turbomachinery design, engineering and manufacturing, has signed a global partnership agreement with Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle of Gosheim, Germany, says Ten Links.

Hermle will be a global machine tool partner with Concepts NREC offering the Max-Pac family of computer-aided manufacturing software to its machine customers worldwide.

The companies say original equipment manufacturers and machining organisations will benefit from their combined expertise in the design and machining of 5-axis turbomachinery products.
