Local stand-up comedians John Vlismas and Bevan Cullinan, together with the Antfarm Network Technologies, IS, and MSN have launched a comedy website called WinFreeSex.tv. It will include daily updated copy and a host of audio and video clips compiled by the artists and their team.
Vlismas and Cullinan have been performing on the local circuit for a number of years and they say their aim is to make South Africans laugh at themselves - and produce the smallest TV program in the country.
The Antfarm- SA`s first Microsoft Windows Media Service Provider - will be providing the backend support for the site including all the audio and video streaming.
Antfarm co-founder Jeff Fletcher says the aim is to broadcast live performances by the two comedians as well as hosting live chat shows, where the public can interact with Vlismas and Cullinan in real time.
The Antfarm provided the audio streaming for the Datatec results presentation on Thursday and Fletcher says the company will also be involved with CNA`s new business model where consumers can have CDs burned in-store.
IS is sponsoring the bandwidth for the site, which will be accessible via the www.winfreesex.tv URL or via the MSN.co.za homepage in the entertainment section.
Vlismas says the idea for the site`s name came from the three most searched words on MSN, an obvious bonus for attracting visitors perusing those search results.
The team aims to make some revenue from advertising as well as sponsorship of the live events streamed on the site.
Content will be irreverent and Vlismas says people should be warned that no politician, sportsman or member of the public will be exempt from having a little fun poked at them.
