Mobile business intelligence specialist RangeGate has released details of its wireless office blueprint which eradicates cabling in the office environment, and provides an overall lower total cost of ownership. The company maintains that wireless LAN installation goes beyond installing technology, but must take into account several factors, such as building interior design, facility sizes and materials used in the building construction.
Drawing on specialist products from Lucent, Cisco, Symbol Technologies and Proxim, RangeGate provides a full installation service, from consulting and design to implementation. "With the correct design to accommodate the physical attributes of the workspace, mobile communications technologies offer a fixed wireless network which provides reliability that matches cabling," says Willy Song, sales director at RangeGate.
RangeGate will provide a complete range of products, including antennae, access point bridging equipment as well as a range of product providing broadband connection PC and server cards.
"The solution eradicates cable connectivity for desktop systems, departmental servers and printers and peripherals," Song says. "We expect to see the LAN environment become the most significant area of growth for wireless connectivity, and will become the connectivity medium of choice for stationary terminals.
"Compared to wireline technology, installation of fixed wireless is faster and total cost of ownership is significantly reduced," Song concludes.
