Midrand-based gift portal Wish Maker is offering its users a free e-mail reminder service that ensures subscribers never forget an important event.
The site offers quick and easy storage of important reminders, which remain safely and confidentially stored until the user removes them.
To use the service, register at www.wishmaker.co.za/reminder, and capture personal reminders on the Web calendar.
Two reminders are sent via e-mail - one on the day and one prior to the event. The reminder e-mail also offers links to the Wish Maker gift portal or other gift sites. However, users are not obliged to make use of these sites.
The site also offers reminders of important South African dates. Users who already have important dates in bulk (such as client birthdays) saved on a database or spreadsheet can make arrangements to export the data to Wish Maker, where it can be captured and stored as a back-up.
Wish Maker assures users of complete confidentiality, and states that it will not disclose any personal information to outside sources, nor will it rent or sell e-mail addresses to third-parties.
To protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information under its control, Wish Maker belongs to the VeriSign Secure Site Program, providing the assurance that the site has a VeriSign Secure Server ID, and all information sent to the site during a secure socket layer (SSL) session is encrypted and protected.
In addition, Wish Maker does not save credit card information on its servers, but uses SETcom`s SET-compliant payment gateway.
Flowers, gifts and magazines purchased through the site are delivered within 24 hours, except on Sundays and public holidays.
