Women in IT has partnered with ICT recruitment portal CareerWeb to provide career guidance to its existing members through a new feature on its Web site called CareerZone.
Women in IT's Louanne De Jager explains: “CareerZone links back into CareerWeb's Web site and offers our members a host of career opportunities. Members will now be able to register to receive updates on job vacancies, receive e-mail alerts of jobs matching their criteria, track the skills that are most in demand by employers, receive salary information, as well as tap into the hundreds of top IT and telecommunications jobs advertised by leading companies and recruitment agencies on CareerWeb.”
“This partnership will also benefit CareerWeb," says Ernie Hipner from CareerWeb.
“It is important for us that our female audience is aware that an initiative such as Women in IT is available to them and the numerous benefits they can derive from becoming a member,” says Hipner. CareerWeb will allow Women in IT members the facility to find IT jobs on our Web site, raising awareness and credibility that IT is a career choice for females, he adds.
The CareerZone facility on the Women in IT Web site will offer members career advice.
“We will have CV templates that will allow our members to put themselves forward in the best light, as well as advice on how to approach job interviews. We will feature the top 10 jobs from CareerWeb and give advice on what jobs are going to be hot - an indication of which jobs are projected to be in demand in the next two years for our IT student and learner members. This will be an invaluable tool when it comes to planning their careers,” says De Jager.
Women in IT is a networking forum for women in the IT industry and has a bursary and mentorship programme that aims to create insight, opportunity, growth and development for women within the information technology sector.
Women in IT creates formal and informal networks between women IT students, tertiary institutions, South African IT professionals and corporates.

CareerWeb is in a unique position to target ICT professionals, providing them with a “one-stop shop” for career opportunities, salary survey results, career and salary advice.
