This includes industry-specific solutions, IBM services, and training facilitation throughout Africa.
Lillian Barnard, business partner executive at IBM Sub-Saharan Africa, says this is key to supporting IBM's strategic growth focus.
“IBM's investments in 2011 are focused on high-potential opportunities of which one is the Africa region.
“The growth plan is to expand to 40 branches by 2015 and to capture this growth; we needed broad and effective strategies for distribution,” says Barnard.
IBM has already made significant investments into Africa, including new operations in Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana.
Operations in Angola, Senegal and Tanzania will go live in the next six months.
In 2009, Workgroup added IBM hardware to its stable of product offerings in SA. This was an addition to IBM's software profile. Workgroup has played host to IBM's software solution offering for several years.
