The latest addition to Bidvest company, Konica Minolta South Africa's series of black-and-white bizhub MFPs is the bizhub 362/282.
"Ideal for workgroups and mid-sized offices, the bizhub 362/282 combines fast, high quality scanning and output with a host of productivity enhancing network features for securely sharing and managing data," says Paul Symonds, product manager at Konica Minolta South Africa.
Supporting a wide range of industry-standard network protocols, the bizhub 362/282 fits seamlessly into and extends the functionality of existing network infrastructures. Originals can be scanned directly to TIFF or PDF format at up to 70 opm (200 dpi) or 41 opm (600 dpi) respectively, then sent for output or distributed directly to multiple network recipients via SMB, sent to a shared file server via FTP, or sent anywhere in the world as e-mail attachments or via Internet fax.
The optional fax kit extends the faxing capabilities with G3 fax, IP fax and PC fax. Konica Minolta's optional PageScope Workware streamlines PDF-based document management, providing drag-and-drop merging, dividing and repagination of documents, as well as tools for correcting scanned images, searching documents and combining scanned data with existing document data to create new documents.
Network security has never been more important, and in this area too, the bizhub 362/282 excels. Data is protected against unauthorised access with secure SSL-encrypted transmission, strong user authentication and a Secure Print function that requires a password to be entered at the operation panel before output. The optional HDD can also be locked with a password and the data completely overwritten with random numbers before disposal. The included PageScope utilities software provides convenient, secure device management via a standard Web browser running on any PC in the local network.
Copying and printing are as dependable in both productivity and quality as users have come to expect from the bizhub series. The 362/282 delivers 36 and 28 pages per minute of output, with no downtime for reloading paper or replacing toner. Time to first print out is just 14 seconds from power-on, while time to first copy output is 4.8 seconds for the 362 and 5.3 seconds for the 282. PCL 6 and Postscript 3 emulation are standard, ensuring accurate reproduction at 600dpi x 600dpi output resolution. Output quality is further assured with Konica Minolta's Simitri polymerised toner that produces sharp text and fine gradations.
The FS-530, PU-501 and SD-507 inline finishing options provide for stapling, folding and hole punching, as well as saddle-stitched booklet making. For users that require high-volume, unattended output, the standard paper capacity of 1 150 sheets (A5 to A3 sizes) can be expanded to 3 650 sheets (A4) with the optional PC-407 Paper Feed Cabinet.
The universal design of the bizhub 362/282 makes it accessible to all users, regardless of size, age, gender or ability. The control panel can be adjusted to a 7, 26 or 43-degree viewing angle, buttons have been designed for maximum visibility and ease of use, and the display can be zoomed for visually impaired users. Replacing toner and paper is quick and easy with front access to both and easy-grip paper trays. Document visibility is maximised using dark colours for the RADF and output trays.
"The bizhub 362/282's combination of powerful network functionality, dependable security and outstanding ease of use makes it a truly compelling document management solution," Symonds concludes.
