Workonline Communications connects to the Octotel fibre network

Johannesburg, 06 Jun 2017

Innovative pan-African service provider Workonline Communications is once again increasing collaboration in the South African market, and underpinning the provision of reliable connectivity to more fibre networks.

Workonline has set up a network-to-network interface (NNI) with Open Access Fibre to the home (FTTH) provider, Octotel, to lower the barrier to entry for Workonline clients to access the Octotel network from any of the Workonline points of presence (including Johannesburg, Durban, Nairobi, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, etc).

Workonline's co-founder and Director of Business Development, Edward Lawrence explains: "This is another important step in our bid to foster collaboration in the local market through reliable partnerships, and thereby assisting our clients in expanding their networks."

Octotel's network covers several areas in Cape Town's city bowl and along the Atlantic seaboard, including Sea Point, Bantry Bay, Mouille Point, Three Anchor Bay, Green Point, Vredehoek, Oranjezicht, Gardens, High Cape, Bloubergstrand and University Estate.

As Cape Town's largest Open Access FTTH provider, Octotel welcomes partnerships that make it easier for service providers to join our network and enable more value and choice. We are excited about the possibilities this partnership presents," says Octotel CTO, Joe Botha.
