interBiz has announced that its AS/400 Warehouse Management solution, Warehouse BOSS 6.0, is generally available. This newest release of Warehouse BOSS provides enhancements in a variety of operational areas, vis:
Helping customers utilize their warehouse space more effectively:
Location Capacity Manager to help reduce the number of partially filled warehouse locations;
Co-mingling, that allows for mixed SKUs to be stored in the same location;
Improvements in the receiving process:
Enhanced RF Receiving capabilities, which streamline the receiving process to reduce the time and personnel requirements. These include:
one operator receiving (entry and verification), multiple open sessions so more than one operator can process a receipt simultaneously, and putaway options that allow operators to receive and put away in one step;
Tools that help manage labor resources more effectively:
Resource Reporting & Activity Tracking, which provide the ability to define tasks, track tasks being performed, track the amount of time spent performing the tasks, and track the quantity of work that is completed;
Additional support for value added services that warehouses typically perform:
Assembly Management, which allows users to pick multiple SKUs from warehouse inventory, assemble them into a new SKU, and re-introduce the new SKU to warehouse inventory.
Other, general enhancements that help improve overall warehouse operations. For example:
Proactive Replenishment Planning so that warehouse and logistics operations can proactively generate, modify and commit replenishment plans based on user-defined inventory levels and/or shipping histories.
"These new enhancements to the Warehouse BOSS product cement its position as the leading solution for effective warehouse management," says Raymond Treu, regional vice president for interBiz Supply Chain Group. "We are confident that, with this level of sophistication, our suite of supply chain and logistics solutions will become an indispensable asset to effective management," he concludes.
