World Cup Rugby on-line

Johannesburg, 22 Sept 1999

I-Net Bridge and the Sunday Times have launched the premier news website for the upcoming Rugby World Cup in Wales.

"The content will be among the best in the country," promises I-Net Bridge CEO Neil Jacobsohn. "It will include daily comments from the top-rated Sunday Times team of Dan Retief and Clinton van der Berg, as well as news, features, analysis and stories from I-Net Bridge`s extensive news sources."

In a coup for the site it has signed up Springbok captain Joost van der Westhuizen and Springbok Adrian Garvey as columnists. They will be providing a light-hearted look at the team both on and off the field.

In a content swap with the highly-rated Rugby365.com website the I-Net Bridge/Sunday Times site will soon feature insights by Springbok coach Nick Mallett, Springbok Pieter Rossouw, as well as columns by England captain Martin Johnson and former All Black great David Kirk. Kirk was the first captain to lift the William Webb-Ellis trophy in 1987.

Other I-Net Bridge/Sunday Times columnists include SA`s top referee Freek Burger and physiotherapist Evan Speechley.

A range of at least three e-Mail round-ups - SA news, International news and regular e-mails from Nick Mallet (both from Rugby365.com) - a rugby chat forum and cellphone messages are just a few more of the fun features to be launched a week before the tournament starts.

Sponsored by NIB Investor Centre, a division of Nedbank Investment Bank, the site will be promoted on all the websites in the I-Net Bridge, Times Media and BDFM stable (comprising among others, netAssets, Ananzi, Business Day, Sunday Times, Financial Mail, Business Times and OutThere).

The NIB Investor Centre is offering R60 000 worth of unit trusts in prizes on the site as well as other promotional activities.
