World first smart solution from TruTeq Devices

Johannesburg, 18 Oct 2012

TruTeq Devices, which focuses on providing wireless connectivity solutions to all market sectors - including the likes of Eskom and Sasol - has launched its world first Single Box Solution based on the trusted Smartoo modem family of products, a revolutionary new concept which allows users to remotely run, and monitor, a wide range of business and home-based utilities and facilities.

The capabilities include voice monitoring solutions, remote device management, wireless remote utility metering and control devices, site management and monitoring solutions, CCTV and visual verification systems, high-speed wireless Internet connectivity, scalable wireless security solutions, home and industrial automated solutions, and access control solutions.

The solution has also notched up what is believed to be a world first, with the capability to enable users to run pre-paid alarm and automation as well as video verification systems.

Risk-free business solutions

"Our versatile modem solutions house a family of ever increasing expansion devices, providing a wide array of business applications - and opportunities - for businesses out there looking at increasing their value propositions to existing or new customers, and increasing profits accordingly," said Derick Roberts, CEO of TruTeq Devices.

The company has established a number of international and local partnership agreements, which sees its products installed and supported via business partners and integrators focusing on vertical markets that include the retail, transport, telecommunication, security, manufacturing, agricultural and mining sectors.

The company boasts business partners and integrators in South Africa as well as in Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, France, Romania, the Philippines and Hong Kong.

TruTeq's devices are unique, explained Roberts, as they offer GSM Network carrier user management services through TruTeq Wireless - Devices' sister company - USSD communication capabilities (which turns cellular phones into remote controls for device management, and payment gateway interfaces in the case of pre-paid solutions); SMS and e-mail event notification capability to unlimited numbers; WAP and MMS gateway services supply access to statistics and reports; GSM CSD (circuit-switched dial-up) capability - provides data call ability between, eg, generator controllers and remote monitoring software, which Truteq offers to users if they do not have their own; GPRS data connectivity that is cheap and fast; 3g and HSPA + communication for video links (either IP cameras with on-board SD memory cards and voice recording - watched live, or alternatively Ethernet DVR with Analogue cameras for event management); voice communication for listening in or talking to and from remote site capability; and the ultimate real-time switching capability offered through DTMF control during an established voice call, enabling triggers like pepper gas release or remote lock opening or shutting.

Commenting further on the solution's "world first credentials", Roberts said the pre-paid alarm solutions work similarly to pre-paid electricity or airtime, with the user able to "top-up on his alarm units as and when he needs them".

"Top-up can be facilitated remotely, via mobile devices from our 'mobi' applications such as cellular phones," desktop vending terminals or the Internet from TruTeq's complete control room customer account management software interface, complementing our device management software offered to customers to allow faster solution implementation and time to market," said Roberts.

Because the solutions offer remote device control, it is able to increase efficiency and productivity, reduce operational costs and downtime, as well as ultimately increase revenue assurance and associated SLA agreements. In addition, GSM VAS (value-added services) compliancy means that annuity-based income streams can be created for just about any business.

Moreover, thanks to the specialised designs of the company's hardware, just about any input/output device can be set up to allow for either a pre-paid or post-paid business solution.

Revenue opportunities are created from:

* Selling, renting, leasing or financing hardware;
* Providing SIM contracts and selling airtime;
* Providing fixed IP connectivity and routing solutions;
* Allowing various monitoring and managing capabilities;
* Generating valuable reports, statistics, intelligence, as well as being able to pipe information to customers; and
* The ability to support a management portal, call centre, or manage a push-and-pull information flow to and from applications; and the ability to bundle complementary hardware with even more contracts and contacts; and allowing access to a wide array of VAS contracts.
