World leading business process management thinker for BPM congress

Johannesburg, 21 Aug 2006

Dr Michael Hammer, co-author of the best-selling book "Re-engineering the corporation" and professor at MIT's Sloan School of Management, is scheduled to speak at this year's third annual Business Process Management (BPM) Congress at Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg from 11 to 14 September.

Dr Hammer, once named by Time Magazine as one of America's 25 most influential individuals, is widely known for his research and teachings on how to transform business operations. His presentation on harnessing the power of processes will address challenges, misconceptions and steps businesses need to take to realise the benefits of BPM. He uses practical examples from a wide range of industries to illustrate his teachings.

Other highlights of this year's congress include demonstrations of how businesses derive value from BPM solutions, with practical insights from existing customers. Global 360 will host a half-day workshop on optimisation and Emerge Africa, its master reseller in Africa, will partake in the panel discussion after Dr Hammer's presentation.

User presentations by the Development Bank of Southern Africa, Sun International, Eskom, MTN, Department of Labour and MultiChoice will focus on:
* How to defeat the common barriers to a successful BPM implementation;
* Implementing a process culture;
* Challenges and benefits associated with enterprise-wide BPM; and
* Changing company direction by exploiting the real value of BPM.

The congress will also include practical workshops, presentations by experienced practitioners and a full day management training session. Businesses interested in attending can register and find out more at www.iqpc.co.za.
