World Online launches `World Commerce`

Johannesburg, 03 Sep 2001

World Online has launched World Commerce, a complete eCommerce business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) . World Commerce can be tailored to suit both small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger corporates.

According to World Online MD Graeme Victor, World Commerce will provide businesses with a flexible and fully functional eCommerce infrastructure to cost-effectively extend their `brick-and-mortar` operations via the to both consumers and business partners.

SMEs can choose to securely sell their products and services either through Buy Me Now (B2C) or through The Business Park (B2B), from as little as R599 per month. This is one of the most affordable eCommerce solutions currently available to local SMEs, considering the functionality that it offers.

"The solution for larger organisations incorporates the features and benefits of a truly top-end eCommerce offering which includes all the service benefits of a fully integrated call centre," he adds.

"Traditionally, opening an online store is costly and requires technical expertise. World Online has now, after extensive market research and product development, launched a platform which allows any organisation to create their own web and eCommerce presence in the most cost-effective manner."

"And best of all, the `s online presence will be developed and hosted by Internet specialists World Online, and will feature easy-to-use shopping technology, search facilities, complete with secure encoded transaction facilities with a range of payment methods," he explains.

Users are able to customise their web site to reflect company branding including store colour schemes. Trading terms and conditions can easily be added or modified and there are various courier and delivery options available.

"Of key importance is the traffic that is attracted to ones site. World Online`s portal generates an average of 250 000 impressions each day. Therefore, customers already have a potential captive audience within a dedicated environment. It is a major benefit to being part of the World Online stable as attracting this type of traffic would cost hundreds of thousands of rands each month," notes Victor.

World Online e-Commerce sales and product manager Shaun Liedtke says the easy-to-use software is based on the successful locally developed Edge-1 technology.

"World Commerce can also be integrated with Pastel and Brilliant accounting, giving users seamless two-way interaction between their desktop accounting software applications and their online business. Orders can be download directly to the customer`s accounting package to provide order processing and tracking as well as sales history and reporting," he adds.

Secure Online Payment works in conjunction with the Catalogue and Order Entry options to enable total e-Commerce functionality, including totally secure online payment via credit card.

"World Online`s World Commerce is a sophisticated yet affordable and easy way to confidently enter the Internet space, and is geared towards building long term partnership that caters for all one`s online business requirements," concludes Liedtke.
