World`s largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative supports 10 guiding principles

Johannesburg, 11 Jan 2006

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact, the world`s largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative to promote corporate social responsibility.

The international initiative was founded in 2000 by the United Nations and encompasses more than 2 400 participants worldwide in nearly 80 country networks. Together with UN agencies, areas of civil society and international organisations, these companies have banded together to promote universal social and environmental principles. For this purpose, the Global Compact has designed 10 universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.

As a member of the Global Compact, Fujitsu Siemens Computers commits to follow these principles in our activities and to support the United Nations in their implementation. The company`s brand: Sense of Responsibility with the customer promise "We make sure" is an ideal fit with the overall principles of Global Compact.

The principles set by the Global Compact and followed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers states that businesses should:

* Support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights within their sphere of influence.
* Make sure they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
* Uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
* Support the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
* Encourage the effective abolition of child labour.
* Eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
* Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
* Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
* Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
* Work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
