Xayce International discussed the latest regulatory and technological developments affecting human resources functions at two forums recently.
The first, hosted by Oracle SA, was held at the Radisson Hotel in Cape Town on 15 February. Also on the podium was Samuel Isaacs, Executive Officer of the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
Isaacs discussed the changing laws and government regulations affecting human resources administration and companies` new obligations, as well as the role of Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs).
Xayce, represented by Vikki Ahern (Senior Consultant, Human Capital), discussed how the latest developments in human resources and payroll administration software cater for and assist with the administration of these new regulations.
The second forum, hosted by the IT Association`s Resource Consultancy Services sub-committee, was held at the GrandWest Casino complex on 13 March.
Xayce, this time represented by Henk van Huysteen (Senior Business Development Manager), discussed the challenge facing HR professionals in today`s increasingly competitive workplace, namely to attract, manage and develop employees better than the competition.
Most fail to address this challenge because they are constantly hampered by non-value-add tasks. As a consequence, HR functions are often perceived as huge overheads, given the need for a large back office, which are capable only of data capture. Through the deployment of various technologies, it is possible to reposition the HR function as a `Strategic Business Partner`, that supports and influences management decision-making, and contributes towards staff retention and increased operational efficiency.
