Xerox Channels Group (XCG) has introduced the WorkCentre 385, a laser printer that operates as a fax machine, copier and scanner as well as a laser printer, in a single device.
"When connected to a PC the WorkCentre adds the ability of an eight page-per-minute (ppm), 600 x 600 dots-per-inch (dpi) laser printer and a document scanner," says Angie Samuel, marketing manager at XCG SA. The machine can perform two tasks at once, such as printing and faxing. "The WorkCentre 385 will allow SOHO professionals to complete their work faster, more efficiently and more economically," she says.
The WorkCentre 385 copies at eight copies-per-minute (cpm) with a reduction and enlargement range of 50 to 200 percent. Scanning is performed at a rate of six seconds per page with a resolution of 300 x 300 dpi. A full version of the document management software TextBridge PRO 98 comes bundled with the WorkCentre 385.
TextBridge PRO 98 maintains document layout throughout the scanning process, eliminating the need for retyping and reformatting.
Wordcraft International`s LaserFax Lite 3.5, working in tandem with the WorkCentre 385, provides the faxing capabilities directly from a user`s PC application.
The WorkCentre 385 operates in Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 environments.
