XCG Products Ready for Windows 2000

The local office of Xerox Channels Group (XCG), has announced that the complete range of Xerox office products - from laser printers to multifunction systems - is immediately ready to support Microsoft`s new operating system, Windows 2000.

Angie Samuel, XCG divisional manager at Xerox SA, says the entire range of network office peripherals has also been fully certified by Microsoft. "Windows 2000 features a host of enhanced printer services, including Printing Protocol (IPP); Active Directory; and tools that simplify printer installation," she explains.

Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) enables users to print documents over the Internet while Active Directory lets them easily find and print to any product on their company LAN.

"By supporting Windows 2000, Xerox continues its commitment to be compatible with the most current office environments, ensuring that Xerox customers can take full advantage of these new print services," she adds. Xerox established on-site teams at Microsoft to help develop the Windows 2000-based technology for Xerox Document Centre digital multifunction systems, DocuPrint N Series network laser printers, and Tektronix Phaser colour laser and solid ink printers.

The Document Centre, the DocuPrint N Series (N17, N24, N32, N40, NC60) and the Phaser families have all been Microsoft certified after passing an extensive series of tests. Certification assures Xerox customers that our products meet or exceed Microsoft`s quality expectations. All the drivers for these products have also been included on the Windows 2000 installation CD, making it easier and more convenient for systems administrators to locate the proper Xerox drivers and load them into a Windows-based network. Windows 2000-based print drivers for new Xerox network products, such as the recently announced DocuPrint N2025, N2125, N2825, N3225 and N4025 network laser printers, can be downloaded immediately from the Xerox Web site. As Xerox introduces new network products, it will work with Microsoft to ensure that the drivers are included in future upgrades of Windows 2000.

Xerox is also the first printer vendor to immediately support Microsoft Management Console (MMC), an enterprise management framework built into Windows 2000. Xerox` MCC solution, called CentreWare MC, allows systems administrators to install and manage any Xerox or non-Xerox printing device that resides on their company network.
