XCG to implement Xtraordinary Performer incentives

Johannesburg, 12 Mar 1999

Xerox Channels Group (XCG) has launched an incentive scheme to the members of its Xtraordinary Performers (XP) which it expects will substantially boost sales of its printers.

Xtraordinary Performers (XPs) are select companies who become "partners in market" to XCG and receive superior benefits for their commitment to the XCG vision.

There will only be 30 XPs, all of whom will have superior product knowledge as well as the company`s full support. "They are therefore well equipped to provide the best possible service to the end user," says Angie Samuel, marketing manager at XCG.

She says the new Xtraordinary Loyalty Programme will be based on a points scheme that will see all who achieve their annual target jetting off to an exotic destination with their partner. Discussing this in more detail, she says members will be allocated 5000 points per quarter for achieving 100 percent of their sales target. She cautions that in order to qualify for this prize the company must have achieved 75 percent of target for the year.

The training of sales and technical staff will also earn them an additional 10 percent. "We would like technical staff to be encouraged to attend," she says, adding that another 10 percent will be given towards on-site evaluations. The use of the XCG showroom will also attribute a further 10% in points.

Companies based in Durban and Cape Town will be allocated 20 percent for on-site evaluations. If members do not make their quarterly target then the figures will be carried over to the next quarter. Additional benefits exclusive to XPs include priority service and toll-free support; a focused select reseller base; easy access to demo equipment; co-operative advertising; and target-oriented incentives.

The XPs will be able to check the status of their accounts online simply by accessing the company`s new password-protected site. Their profiles will also be posted on the Web site, further enhancing their image.

Samuel says that company`s who already have sales targets to meet will have their figures backdated to Q1 while new members will be able to enter from April 1.

The new incentive scheme is seen as another phase in XCG`s programme to raise awareness of its products. "The idea is not to offer incentives coupled to unrealistic or unachievable yearly sales targets, but to provide immediate quarterly benefits in the form of travel vouchers and a dollar back incentive for the XP Sales staff," she says.

"Companies also receive a confidential rebate, payable at the end of each quarter on achievement of target," she explains.
