As sole authorised distributor of Xerox products and solutions in sub-Saharan Africa, Bytes Document Solutions has introduced the new Xerox CopyCentre C118 and Xerox WorkCentre M118 and M118i multifunction products (MFPs) to the South African market.
Designed for small to midsize workgroups, the devices handle documents from A3-size down, are available in flexible configurations, and offer printing and copying speeds of up to 18ppm (pages per minute), with a first-copy-out time of less than 7.4 seconds.
"Desktop MFPs that print and copy at 15-25ppm appeal to a wide range of small to mid-sized businesses seeking faster speeds, greater flexibility and higher capacity for supplies than found on lower-end devices," says Dan Corsetti from market research firm, IDC. "Demands from these users will see this segment of the market grow nearly 7% annually from 2005 through to 2008."
The C118, M118 and M118i rely on the Xerox patented EA toner to create crisp image and print quality. Smart Kits provide users with ample warning when toner is low or maintenance is needed.
ScanSoft`s PaperPort SE v9.0 in the M118i allows users to automatically create PDF files from scanned documents, while OmniPage SE v2.0 converts paper and PDF files into editable electronic documents. Both software tools enable easy organising, sharing and storing of documents, leading to higher worker productivity and faster access to critical information.
"Xerox is helping customers solve business challenges with feature-packed multifunction devices for the desktop that have the muscle to stand up to everyday office needs," says Tanya Moodley, product and marketing manager for the monochrome range at Bytes Document Solutions. "These three new products help office workers clear out the clutter of standalone printers, copiers and fax machines on their desktops, replacing them with one compact device that can perform all the printing, copying, faxing and e-mailing needed."
WorkCentre M118 combines copy and print capabilities, while WorkCentre M118i adds fax and e-mail functionality. Fax options such as one-touch fax, group dials and faxing from the desktop help save time, while the two-up faxing feature combines two faxed pages onto one to save time and paper.
The WorkCentre machines can scan up to 44 images per minute at 200dpi (dots per inch), and the scan-to-e-mail capability increases productivity by sending documents directly to the desktop.
"Using compression technology that generates smaller files for faster faxing, the M118i enables fast faxing speeds, and time and cost savings," Moodley says. "The theme across this latest product range is `saving`. Everything about the devices helps users save time, money and resources while improving productivity and quality of work."
Integrated installation tools and auto IP setup make it easy for administrators to get the devices up and running without extra service support, and Xerox Internet Services Management Software allows administrators and workgroups to remotely manage the devices through the Internet.
