Xerox boosts SME colour output with Phaser printers

Johannesburg, 09 May 2006

Bytes Document Solutions, the sole distributor of Xerox products in sub-Saharan Africa, offers the Phaser 6300/6350 colour laser printers to organisations seeking to affordably integrate colour into their everyday documents.

Designed for small offices and workgroups replacing their black-and-white laser printers, the Phaser 6300 delivers colour speeds up to 25 pages per minute (ppm) and black-and-white speeds of 35ppm; while the Phaser 6350 is designed for larger workgroups that have higher volume, higher speed and higher performance printing needs.

Commenting on the Phaser 6300, Ernest Leong, OPB channel manager at Bytes Document Solutions, says: "The Phaser 6300 can be used in networked environments and comes with advanced printer management features such as the Web-based technical support feature PhaserSMART; PrintingScout, a software tool that alerts users when paper or toner runs out; and CentreWare Web, a server-based application that helps manage both Xerox and third-party devices on the network."

Using an 800MHz processor, the Phaser 6350 has a first-page-out time as fast as 10 seconds, and the Phaser 6300 has a first-page-out time of 12 seconds. Both have high-capacity toner cartridges that yield 10 000 impressions each. The devices have a maximum paper capacity of 2 350 sheets of paper each and a high monthly duty cycle of 120 000 pages.

The Personal Print feature of the Phaser 6350 allows users to download jobs to the printer`s hard drive and into a virtual personal mailbox, and then print them all at once so that jobs do not get mixed with other documents in the queue. A Usage Analysis tool allows administrators to collect, organise and analyse print job accounting data from multiple printers and use the information to calculate charge-back billing data per department.

"Both devices offer maximum image resolution of 2 400 dots per inch (dpi) and have up to one gigabyte of memory and 20GB hard disk available," Leong continues. "Their toner-saving feature presents users with the option of printing draft quality documents, thereby reducing printing costs."

The Phaser 6300/6350 has time saving features that include:

* The one-touch Phaser installer that allows users to install the printer with the touch of a single button;
* Instant wake-up, which brings the devices out of power-saving mode in seconds; and
* RAM collation, allowing users to print multiple copies of multiple-page documents in the correct numerical sequence.
