Xerox chairman and CEO reaffirms commitment to growing SA market

Visit from Anne Mulcahy highlights local and international growth for Xerox

Leadership, innovation, growth and strong commitment to the local partnership with Bytes Document Solutions, a Bytes Technology Group company, part of the JSE-listed Altron Group. These were the themes emphasised during the visit to SA, by Xerox chairman and CEO Anne Mulcahy.

In a visit to Johannesburg, Mulcahy remarked positively on the country`s local transformation, stating: "The transformation here in SA is truly phenomenal. Our business results alone in this region are evidence that SA has become a modern democratic state."

She compared it to Xerox`s own transformation over the past four years, citing the company`s success in growing revenue in key areas of the business, expanding its portfolio of technology and services, reaching new customers through additional sales and distribution channels, generating significant operational cash flow and delivering improved profitability.

In speaking to employees of Bytes Document Solutions, Mulcahy said: "The strength of our brand and your pride in Xerox is a powerful force. And, it`s contributing to the success story we`re writing at Xerox. Today, we`re all about growth, winning in the marketplace and adding value for all our stakeholders. We don`t achieve these results alone. We depend on the contributions from our distribution partners. Our partnership with Bytes is absolutely instrumental to our business and our success."

Bytes Document Solutions is regarded as Xerox`s largest distributor in the world and last year delivered record equipment sales and significant double-digit equipment revenue growth.

Mulcahy added that it is through its distributors that Xerox has a window on the 22 countries managed out of SA by Bytes. Fuelled by a strong service ethic, current customer satisfaction data indicates that over 94% of Bytes Document Solutions` 8 000 customers would buy from Xerox again, making it the envy of the Xerox world.

Jule Limoli, president of Xerox International Group, said: "Two years into our new relationship in SA we are absolutely convinced we have the right business model here. Under local management, and with local market knowledge, we have achieved double-digit revenue growth over the last couple of years."

Commenting on the visit, Robert Venter, chief executive of Altron, said: "Our partnership with Xerox is a crucial part of our company at a group level. In fact, Bytes Document Solutions is one of the operations within Bytes Technology Group that has experienced consistent year-on-year growth and is truly one of our star performers. It is with this in mind that we will continue to invest heavily in our relationship with Xerox and our dealer network at large."

In addition to meeting key customers, the executive team and staff, Mulcahy was on hand to unveil the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press to the local market. The iGen3 is the key component of Xerox`s strategy of the "New Business of Printing," where digital technology provides a complement to traditional offset printing, in the delivery of communications services.

"Xerox`s own leadership in the printing industry is built on world-class technology. And they, if anyone, understand that this is not built on the technology itself but on what it allows you to do for your customers," said Rob Abraham, managing director of Bytes Document Solutions. "We are proud members of the Xerox family and the introduction of the iGen3 is yet a further step more towards our continued commitment to drive the Xerox message of 'Smarter Document Management` to the local market."
