2004-Fortune recently announced that Xerox was named one of the Most Admired Companies in America. Ranked in the number three position in the "computers industry segment", Xerox moved up six places from last year`s number nine position.

Rob Abraham, Managing Director of Bytes Documents Solutions, authorised distributor of Xerox products in Southern and Eastern Africa, said: "It truly is an honour for Xerox to be named by Fortune as one of the most admired companies in America and it gives us great pleasure to be associated with one of the world`s top companies. This recognition is a validation of the CEO of Xerox, Anne Mulcahy`s efforts to improve management structures, the company`s stock price, increase revenue and to capitalise on previously missed opportunities."

Since taking over, Mulcahy has cut Xerox`s workforce by 30%, boosted productivity, and reduced the company`s debt by 21%. All of Xerox`s business units have been profitable since last year.

Criteria for the selection of the Most Admired Companies in America included innovation, financial soundness, employee talent, use of corporate , long-term investment value, social responsibility, quality of management, and quality of products and services.
