Xerox cuts networked printing costs with improved services

Johannesburg, 23 Jun 2006

Xerox, represented locally by Bytes Document Solutions, has enhanced its Xerox Office Services (XOS) offering for companies with expanding arrays of printing devices from multiple vendors.

The Xerox Office Services suite aims to help organisations track, analyse and manage networked printing costs and equipment, and improve the efficiency of printing devices and networks. It includes distinctive software such as Xerox Device Manager, Xerox Asset Management, Xerox Help Desk and Xerox Services Portal.

"As network environments continue to expand, so too does the number of brands being installed, making management an increasing challenge, risk and opportunity for our customers," says Grant Long, software product manager at Bytes Document Solutions. "Xerox`s enhanced office services methodology provides customers with secure solutions and a single point of global device management."

Xerox Office Document Assessment examines the daily operations and usage patterns of an organisation and then recommends how current equipment, including network-resident printers, faxes, scanners and multifunction devices, can be used more efficiently.

Upgraded to include greater analytics capabilities for more detailed and measurable recommendations, Xerox Office Document Assessment also offers suggestions regarding whether certain equipment should be consolidated, upgraded or replaced.

"Document fleets are usually a mixed set of printer and network copier brands and accessories that operate using laser, inkjet and solid-ink printer technologies," Long says. "Although advanced technology is highly beneficial, growing digital fleets from a variety of vendors can be burdensome and expensive if the fleet is not monitored and managed effectively. Xerox Global Services helps organisations streamline and digitise document processes. Consultants work closely with companies to identify, quantify and realise opportunities to save money, find new sources of value, mitigate risks, and simplify how work gets done."
