The local Xerox Channels Group (XCG) office has announced that Xerox international has signed an agreement that will see consumers able to purchase the full line of Xerox personal products from Amazon.com.

Donald Goldfain, GM of XCG SA, describes the deal as representing a major expansion of Xerox` presence and expects the exposure to the more than 13 million Amazon.com shoppers to translate into greater market share. "The Web site will offer the complete line of Xerox personal desktop products, including copier/printers, inkjet printers, laser printers and multifunction machines as part of its online electronics store," he explains.

"Amazon.com will also carry Xerox printer paper and supplies, including greeting cards, magnets and window decals."

Christopher Payne, GM of electronics and software at Amazon.com, says the company`s goal is to continuously offer an extensive selection, rich editorial content and a most convenient shopping experience. "By teaming with Xerox we broaden our selection of well-known brands and it comes at a perfect time for customers - just as they begin their busy holiday shopping season."

Goldfain comments: "In the old days of retail shopping it was necessary for the customer to go to a physical store to make a purchase - Mohammed going to the mountain if you like. With this deal, the mountain is coming to Mohammed because consumers are able to shop for the best deals without leaving home."
