Xerox` digital product range triumphs in independent industry lab tests

Johannesburg, 09 Mar 1999

The Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories has voted the range of digital office products from Xerox, the Document Company, as the overall winner in its Digital Office Awards 1999. The company also won awards in nine of the 16 test categories. In all, 250 products from over 30 manufacturers were tested.

As well as winning the overall award, Xerox products picked up most innovative print room device, best departmental network printer/copier, best high volume print room device and best network management system for its CentreWare software solution. A total of nine Xerox products picked up honours.

Ken Salmon, office business unit manager in Xerox Europe`s Office Document Products Group, says: "It is always good to win awards and we are particularly pleased that our CentreWare software solution has been recognised. The product is central to our evolution as an IT solutions provider in today`s increasingly digital and network-centric modern office environment."

Commenting on Xerox` success, Carmel Rowley, director of the Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories, says: "As office equipment becomes increasingly digital, and businesses` reliance on these systems for business efficiency and competitive advantage becomes pervasive, end users need to know they are choosing the best.

This is why our tests, which are completely independent and compare products on an `apples-to-apples` basis, are so important. Each product undergoes extensive bench testing using the latest hi-tech electronic test and measurement equipment. Xerox` remarkable achievement is impressive and one of which the company can be justifiably proud."

Detailed lab reports for all products tested are available from LabCheck online at www.datacheck.net.
