Xerox Engineering Systems unveils the Synergix family of digital solutions

Xerox Engineering Systems (XES) today announced Synergix Digital Solutions, the company`s new line of scaleable large-format digital solutions that offer industry-leading image quality and modularity. This family of multifunctional Digital Solutions includes three different Synergix printers, each of which combines with the new Synergix Scan System to create a powerful integrated solution. All Synergix solutions are designed to be modular, scaleable and upgradeable over time to maximise a customer`s investment.

Rather than purchase new hardware each time a customer`s document management needs change, the Synergix products` functionality can be easily expanded with software upgrades, adding anything from increased speed to account data tracking. The new Synergix family will target CAD, commercial reprographics, engineering departments, architectural firms, construction, utilities and manufacturing.

"This new line of digital solutions empowers our customers to be more competitive with their wide-format document management capabilities," said Mehmet Sezer, marketing director of Xerox South Africa. "Synergix is designed for scaleable tailoring. If a company`s needs change, all they have to do is download additional software feature keys to expand your capabilities."

One of the many innovations in this product line is the Synergix Scan System, which utilises exclusive XES technology to bring new image quality to scanning. It is a strong addition to XES` departmental solutions, and enables XES to launch three new Synergix Digital Solutions - the 8825 DS, the 8830 DS and the 8855 DS.

The Synergix Scan System processes smaller, lower resolution documents as fast as two times the rated speed (rated speed available in 2-inches/second and 4-inches/second) and automatically adjusts to ensure high image quality for photographs. It is interoperable with each printer in the Synergix family, making it a flexible solution to meet any customer`s needs.

Customer input played a significant role in the creation of the new Synergix line, and as a result the new family of digital solutions will allow customers to keep their document management systems up-to-date. This upgrade technology allows customers to protect their investment by simply acquiring performance upgrades for the latest XES technology advancements, which can be obtained from the XES Web site. At launch, the Synergix Scan System will be available with a scan-to-net software upgrade and a scanner speed upgrade.

Finding new ways to improve customer productivity is one of XES` core objectives. With this in mind, the Synergix Scan System was created with several important features to maximise productivity:

* Dynamic background suppression;

* 30% faster throughput;

* Factory-aligned sensors that remain permanently aligned and require no manual recalibration, dramatically reducing the need for maintenance and significantly increasing image accuracy and stability;

* Thick document handling, which is standard for poster board and foam core mountings (up to .5-inches/12mm thick);

* Upgradeable Feature Key options (2ips to 4ips scanning and scan-to-Net);

* Flat document stacker that retains the order of document sets;

* Batch mode, which enables maximum throughput of documents; and

* 256 grayscale conversion from full-colour originals.

The Synergix Scan System utilises automatic background suppression and dynamic background removal, which dramatically improves image quality. And because the Synergix Scan System recognises all colours, the monochrome output is crisper with finer gradations.

Using these technological advancements, the Scan System adjusts the image quality throughout the scan to compensate for variable backgrounds without needing to manually adjust the image settings. Additionally, optical auto-width detection of the original ensures that copies are accurately produced and maximises ease of use for the operator.
