Xerox, distributed to 24 sub-Saharan countries by Bytes Document Solutions, has continued to expand its line of office products with the launch of the Phaser 3428, a desktop black-and-white laser printer designed to deliver greater productivity at entry-level prices.
The Phaser 3428 is available in two models from local Bytes Document Solutions' distributors Rectron and Square One.
The Phaser 3428D and Phaser 3428DN models both have a duplex printing feature, typically only found in larger and more expensive laser printers. With a 400MHz processor, the device prints up to 28 pages per minute (ppm) and has a first-page-out time of 8.5 seconds.
"This latest Xerox office device delivers big-printer features and performance such as fast printing and automatic two-sided printing in an easy-to-use, compact device," says Ernest Leong, Xerox printer product manager at Bytes Document Solutions. "This printer was designed to meet the needs of growing businesses while keeping their budget top of mind."
The Phaser 3428 delivers 1 200dpi (dots per inch) image quality and offers several advanced features such as Auto Tray Selection, which automatically chooses the correct paper for the print job based on the size of the file being printed; and Job Cancel, which allows customers to cancel print jobs directly from the desktop.
The Phaser 3428D model comes standard with PCL 6 printer language, while the Phaser 3428DN model adds networking functionality, additional 32MB memory and PostScript 3 printer language. It also includes CentreWare Web, a server-based application that helps manage both Xerox and third-party devices and CentreWare Internet Services, which enables remote device management and supply replenishment alerts.
"With a four-click installation process, the Phaser 3428 is easy to set up and the printer's front access panel allows for quick and simple replacement of toner and other consumables," Leong says. "The device is Energy Star-compliant and comes with a one or a two-year carry-in warranty."
