Xerox introduces multifunction system software
Xerox has unveiled four software solutions that work in conjunction with Xerox multifunction systems, TMCnet.com reports.
Two new scanning programs - Xerox FreeFlow SMARTsend 2.0 and ScanFlowStore, allow workers to capture, share and store documents. Equitrac Express 4 and Equitrac Office 4 help offices monitor, track and charge back document costs to specific departments or clients.
"An effective document management strategy encompasses both paper and electronic documents. These software solutions transform Xerox multifunction systems into on-ramps to productivity - streamlining processes, monitoring document output and creating," said Tim Williams, president, Xerox Office Group.
Sharp, EFI release Fiery
Sharp Electronics and EFI have released the Fiery integrated controller, designed for the Sharp MX-3500N, MX-3501N and MX-4501N Workgroup Colour Document Systems, EFI announced.
The Fiery enables the Sharp models to unite network users with a fully integrated document printing workflow.
"The Fiery controller is renowned for its precision colour, consistent high quality output and workflow innovation," said Mike Marusic, VP, marketing, Sharp Document Solutions.
Brava! to support MS XML XPS
Informative Graphics Corporation (IGC), a developer of commercial software products for content visualisation, secure publishing and collaboration, released its line of Brava! content visualisation and Net-It content publishing products that will directly support Microsoft XML Paper Specification (XPS), Mcadcafe.com reports.
IGC`s Brava Enterprise and Brava Desktop products provide view, annotation, redaction and secure publishing capabilities for a number of file formats. Brava also opens over 150 file formats that can be saved to XPS and then viewed directly by Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista or by the Microsoft XML Paper Specification Viewer.
Kodak Scan Station 100 integrated with OCR
Image Recognition Integrated Systems (IRIS) Group has concluded a licensing agreement with Eastman Kodak, the company announced.
Under this agreement, Kodak will integrate the optical character recognition (OCR) technology of IRIS, based on several modules of the IRIS Developer Reading System (iDRS) into its new network walkup device, the Kodak Scan Station 100, which enables people to turn paper documents into digital files.
This IRIS technology will also be used to generate fully-searchable PDF files, containing both the scanned image and the full-text index.
