Bytes Document Solutions, the Xerox authorised distributor in sub-Saharan Africa, has launched the Xerox WorkCentre C2424 multifunction system, the first solid ink colour device aimed at small to medium-sized workgroups.
The system is designed to deliver high quality printing, copying and scanning capabilities, producing colour and black and white office documents including text files, spreadsheets and presentations at 24 pages per minute (ppm). It scans at 20 images per minute, has a first colour page out time of six seconds, and a first colour copy out time of less than 15 seconds.
"Offering exceptional image quality and outstanding ease of use in a compact unit that is tightly integrated in appearance, the WorkCentre C2424 has a robust feature set that is not lacking on the copier side, as with many A4-size workgroup colour MFPs," says Marlene Glazer of Buyer`s Laboratory, an independent testing organisation. "Considering its low price compared with other competitive models with comparable colour speed, current competitive offerings cannot match the WorkCentre C2424 in terms of combined value, performance and functionality."
This latest multifunction system incorporates more than 80 solid ink patents, with another 23 patents pending. Solid ink technology uses solid, polymer-based ink instead of powdered toner.
The imaging process works similarly to an offset press but is designed for everyday office use, creating colour images by heating ink sticks and applying the appropriate colours to a drum in the printer, which then transfers the image onto the page.
This process creates high-quality prints that are consistent from one page to the next. Due to the absence of powdered toners, liquids, tanks or cartridges, the WorkCentre C2424 is mess-free to maintain and environmentally friendly.
"With this breakthrough product, we`ve extended Xerox`s award-winning solid ink colour technology platform from single-function printers to multifunction office systems," says Amanda Hetherington, colour product manager at Bytes Document Solutions. "The WorkCentre C2424 is a colour-capable system that gives office customers better pricing, better print quality and better, easier ways to work than anything else available in this product category."
Integrated printing, copying and scanning functions that enable the production of simultaneous multiple jobs make the WorkCentre C2424 suitable for use in busy workgroups. Engineered to be easy to operate, the WorkCentre C2424 can be up and running in 15 minutes. Network installation of print and scan drivers is automated, including Xerox`s CentreWare printer management software.
The WorkCentre C2424 makes network scanning simple, with three options that let people scan documents directly to their PC, secure mailbox, or public folder. The addition of ScanSoft, PaperPort Pro and OmniPage on the system`s DX configuration increases customers` ability to manipulate their scanned files and deliver optical character recognition capabilities.
As the authorised Xerox distributor to 22 sub-Saharan countries, Bytes Document Solutions, previously known as Xerox South Africa, is engaged in the marketing and servicing of the complete range of Xerox document equipment, software, solutions and services, and operating through an extensive network of dealers, concessionaires and channel partners.
