Xerox has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant in Gartner`s recently published multifunction product Magic Quadrant report.
The independent evaluation listed Xerox in the Leaders quadrant, following Gartner`s definition of leaders as those vendors that are performing well in current market environments, have a clear vision of market direction, and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.
"These results demonstrate Xerox`s ability to provide innovative products, services and solutions that effectively meet the needs of any businesses, regardless of size," says Rob Abraham, MD of Bytes Document Solutions, the authorised distributor of Xerox equipment and solutions in sub-Saharan Africa.
"Xerox will continue setting the highest standards in the industry, helping customers improve productivity and streamline document management processes in innovative and reliable ways."
The Magic Quadrant provides guidance to the large number of Gartner clients looking to reduce costs and create smarter document processes by making the transition from single-function office devices to multifunction systems, which combine printing, copying, scanning and faxing.
The evaluation criteria include a global scale of service operations, scope of training and support offerings, availability of security features, range of product acquisition options, ability to unify fleet management and the capacity of applications to deliver enhanced end-user productivity. The 2005 report provides additional commentary relating to industry trends over the last year.
"Xerox is a leader in providing technology, software and consulting services designed to help organisations implement smarter document management strategies that reduce costs and increase office efficiency," Abraham says. "We are also one of the leading patent holders in the US, with research and development a priority. This gives the company a sharp edge with which to compete in the market."
Xerox`s multifunction devices combine software and hardware to create output devices that enable the enhancement of document output processes and decrease the time spent on creating and distributing documents. Smart kits help companies save time changing device components by removing the need for external technicians.
Auditron features reduce device abuse as each user is allocated their own access code, without which they cannot make use of the device. In this way, they are made accountable for excessive or abusive use of the machine.
"Xerox is also dispelling myths about colour printing being costly by offering value and unparalleled productivity to customers in its multifunction product range," Abraham says. "Technology developed and patented by Xerox has made colour printing more accessible to organisations by reducing costs, increasing speeds and improving the quality of printing in colour. Combining this with multifunction products makes quality colour printing very attractive to companies."
