Xerox refreshes CMS software
A new version of Xerox`s document-management software is available, providing a single database for both transaction-oriented business processes and individual and group content management.
The software is now Web-based and supports collaboration as well as the management of blogs and wikis, writes InformationWeek.
"The company is rolling out two new products, DocuShare CPX and DocuShare 5.0, which will share a common repository and workflow engine - that is significant," says Colman Murphy, Xerox`s product manager for its DocuShare line.
Rockley Report now free online
The Rockley Report, a journal featuring content management case studies, best practices and lessons-learned, is now accessible free online.
Enterprise Content Management 365 notes the Rockley Report was previously a quarterly, subscription-only journal, but has now adopted a free content model.
"Written and edited by practitioners who work in the industry, the journal is designed to help readers demystify some confusing concepts and avoid making the costly mistakes made by others," adds the article.
Incomplete CMS risky for initiatives
FileNet, a provider of enterprise content and business process management solutions, has published the results of a survey exploring the compliance strategies of European companies.
The survey of 200 CIOs in organisations with turnover in excess of 400 million euros shows although 78% of companies recognise it is important for them to be able to archive, track and access content as part of their compliance strategies, 36% are unable to do so, writes Community Central.
Of particular concern is the management of unstructured content - the majority of companies are unable to archive, track and access e-mail, voice or instant messaging despite 58% of CIOs saying e-mail is sometimes their only record of business critical information, the survey reveals.
