At a glitzy Lions Players Awards ceremony last evening held at Ellis Park Stadium, Xerox announced that it is pleased to once again, officially be part of the Lions` pride!
This three-year deal with one of SA`s leading rugby teams, The Golden Lions Rugby Union, will see a substantial investment from Xerox Corporate and is possibly the most lucrative single provincial team sponsorship deal in SA today!
Rob Abraham, Managing Director of Bytes Document Solutions - the only authorised distributor of Xerox products in SA - said: "We are very excited about this agreement and proud to once again sponsor The Golden Lions Rugby Union as we did from 1993 to 1998 when they were known as the Transvaal Rugby Union. In terms of this new sponsorship agreement, we are the principal sponsor of the Lions professional team (Absa Currie Cup Tournament), the Lions merit A side (SA Cup Tournament), the Lions Under 21`s and the Young Lions (the Vodacom Cup Tournament)."
Thus, from now on, rugby spectators will be seeing the prominent Xerox logo blazoned on the teams` brand new playing -, practice- and replica team jerseys. In addition, subtle branding will form part of The Lions casual wear and a specially designed Xerox tie will round their formal wear off. All coaching and sideline staff will also wear Xerox branded clothing.
Johan Prinsloo, CEO of the Golden Lions Rugby Union, added: "We are very pleased to have Xerox back on board and believe that this agreement will be mutually beneficial to both parties. The Golden Lions Rugby Union needs Xerox as a partner to mutually build our brands in a highly competitive domestic sport market that receives major television and media exposure. As a previous sponsor of the team, Xerox and ourselves are well aware of the benefits of fusion between the two brands. I believe that our re-established relationship will grow from strength to strength."
Abraham concluded: "Our mission statement is `to help people find better ways to do great work` and if our rekindled interest in the Union helps them to do just that, we will very soon see the Lions taking up their number one position in SA. We look forward to a long and lasting relationship with the Union and Lions Team."
