Xerox wins 318 awards in 2005

Johannesburg, 30 Jan 2006

Xerox, distributed in sub-Saharan Africa by Bytes Document Solutions, has earned 10 new honours from independent testing organisations and IT publications, bringing its total number of worldwide product awards in 2005 to 318.

More than 100 awards and honours were given to Xerox for its office, production and service offerings in the US alone.

The company launched 49 office and production products during the year, attracting international recognition. Most recently, independent testing lab Buyers Laboratory presented Xerox with three "Pick of the Year" awards for the Phaser 8550 colour printer, Phaser 6120 colour laser printer and WorkCentre M118i multifunction system. These designations were awarded following a battery of tests that compared and rated competitive products. The lab also gave a five-star rating to Xerox`s FreeFlow SMARTsend Pro office document scanning and routing software.

Anthony Polifrone, Buyers Laboratory MD, notes: "Our extensive lab evaluations separate the exemplary performers from the rest, and when subjected to our tests the Xerox Phaser 6120N, Phaser 8550DP and WorkCentre M118i clearly earned their place as being top performers in their respective categories. In addition to displaying outstanding reliability and image quality, our testing showed that they offer superior ease of use and set-up."

Xerox also received PC Magazine`s "Best of the Year" award in the peripherals category for the Phaser 6300DN colour printer; and three "Editor`s Choice" awards for the Phaser 8500/8550, Phaser 6300/6350 and Phaser 7400 colour printers from Better Buys for Business, a research firm and authority on office imaging equipment.

Rounding out the awards and honours for 2005, users of office multifunction systems ranked Xerox as number one in performance and effectiveness, according to an annual survey published in Industry Analysts` Office Products Analyst report. Also, Digital Output magazine recognised Xerox as one of its 50 "Top Product Innovators" because of the "award-winning technology" of the Xerox iGen3 110 Digital Production Press.

"Xerox received awards in more than 24 countries for its colour and black-and-white printers, office scanners, digital copiers, multifunction systems and high-speed digital production systems," says Rob Abraham, MD of Bytes Document Solutions.

"Honoured products include Xerox`s Phaser, CopyCentre, WorkCentre, and WorkCentre Pro office product families, Xerox Nuvera 100 and 120 Digital Production Systems, and the iGen3. Accolades were also earned for the growing suite of consulting services, workflow solutions and software designed to streamline document-intensive business processes. The company has also been widely recognised for knowledge management, innovation, diversity, workplace issues, environmental programmes and leadership."
