Xhead = Verizon adds cell site

The ongoing effort to expand and improve Hawaii's for residents and visitors has resulted in a new Verizon Wireless cell site on Oahu, reports Honolulu Advertiser.

The cell site expands 3G wireless coverage in West Makaha and benefits locals, travellers and beachgoers along a six mile stretch of the Farrington Highway.

Increasing the size and capacity of the country's wireless network means more calls, e-mails, text and picture messages, Web-browsing, video and music services are now available to Verizon Wireless customers in Hawaii.

Wireless audio solutions unveiled

Plantronics has introduced the industry's first suite of unified communications wireless headset systems that integrate multiple devices and applications for improved business collaboration and cost savings, according to msnbc.

Designed for today's distributed workforce, the Plantronics Savi series provides a new level of communication versatility combined with superior audio and reliability.

"As Unified Communications becomes more prevalent in the enterprise, professionals are increasingly using a mix of communication tools, including desk phones, softphones and mobile phones on an everyday basis," says Melanie Turek, industry principal of unified communications at Frost & Sullivan.

Motorola ships rugged phone

Motorola has begun shipping a compact phone aimed at mobile enterprise workers across a number of different vertical sectors, NetworkWorld reports.

The MC55 Enterprise Assistant is a ruggedised handset measuring 5.78-inches (height) by 3.03-inches (width) by 1.06-inches (depth) without the antenna.

The device comes in two models, namely the MC5590 and the MC5574, and is available in multiple configurations, either available with a numeric or Qwerty keypad.
