Juniper Networks has recognised XON, the South African-based BEE ICT solutions business, as its top channel partner for 2011 for Middle East and Africa (MEA), due in part to its 73% year-on-year growth in sales.
The award factors in XON's performance in sales, customer service excellence, technology expertise and service specialisation.
“The bulk of the growth we experienced was in the mobile and telecoms service provider space, which is driving the rapid expansion of our African footprint,” says Carel Coetzee, CEO of XON. “The network really is the business in that industry and it's where the value of purpose-built IP platforms is instantly apparent.”
The award was made at the first annual Juniper Networks Global Partner Conference, held at Mandalay Bay Hotel, in Las Vegas, attended by more than 1 000 partners from around the world.
XON has been a Juniper Networks partner since 2005, has the largest Juniper skills set in Africa, and is a certified Juniper Elite Partner - Service Provider and Enterprise, as well as a certified Juniper Operate Specialist for Africa.
“We congratulate this year's winners and thank them for their commitment to customer service and innovation excellence,” says Emilio Umeoka, senior VP, worldwide partners, Juniper Networks.
The influx of international bandwidth via the landing of undersea cables, coupled with poor existing wired telecommunications infrastructure across the continent, has driven massive uptake of next-generation wireless and mobile networking equipment across Africa.
International bandwidth throughout the greater African region has increased enormously due to the landing of several competing submarine cables - including SAT-2, WACS, EASSy, SAFE, LION, EIG and Seacom - and has surpassed the 520Gbps mark.
“It's the last mile connectivity where fibre links are too costly that wireless technologies such as LTE (long term evolution) can really make a big impact,” says Coetzee. “With the integrated platforms and applications to ensure scalable and flexible business solutions for current and future market needs, we know we can rely on Juniper Networks to help us help our customers differentiate themselves and leapfrog their competitors.”
XON has taken advantage of these market conditions through its breadth and depth of IP networking skills and its close association with Juniper Networks for the past nine years to expand its continental market share.
Juniper Networks' business solutions range across the enterprise, service providers, and the public sector, while its technology products and services through XON cover the entire gamut of networking and security.
