Xylan SA has appointed Network Support Services (NSS) their third reseller for the region, opening new avenues of possibility for both parties, according to Rob Wellman, territory manager for Xylan.
Wellman points to a close synergy between the two companies that prompted the decision. "NSS has a high value add culture, which is apparent through their highly qualified consultancy and technical staff. Using their focused core competencies, NSS concentrates on providing solutions which provide true business value, rather than merely pushing product. This is the same as Xylan`s business approach." This close culture fit, Wellman adds, is crucial to a successful relationship between NSS and Xylan.
There are even close similarities in product styles between NSS` range of servers from NetFrame and the Xylan networking equipment, Wellman adds.
"In conjuction to our proven Omniswitch range, we now supply Omnistack, a range of cost-effective stackables, which retain the high-end features of the OmniSwitch, including powerful VLANs, integrated routing and full management. NSS` NetFrame`s new server (the NF9008) is a server that is very similarly positioned; a departmental server with the powerful capabilities of the high-end Netframe models."
"The strengths of the partnership will contribute to both our companies` ability to provide complete solutions for any size environment, with the same features and support across the board," adds Andre Odendaal, managing director of NSS.
With switch prices dropping, Wellman predicts a boom in this market.
"Switch pricing is rapidly approaching Hub pricing. Besides the growth in pure switching environments, switches are poised to eat into the lucrative hub market".
