
Yahoo, Facebook strengthen ties
Yahoo and Facebook users around the world can now link their accounts to view and share updates with friends on both Web sites, Yahoo announced today, states IT World.
Yahoo users can now view their Facebook News Feed via their Yahoo home page, Yahoo Mail, and other Yahoo sites, the company says. Additionally, content created on Yahoo sites, including Yahoo News, Sports, Movies and the photo-site Flickr, can be shared with friends on Facebook.
More Yahoo-Facebook integrations are also on the way, the company says.
Mobile operator raises funds for 3G
India's second-largest mobile operator, Reliance Communications, says its board of directors has approved in principle to sell off up to 26% of the company's equity to strategic or private equity investors, writes IT News.
The move is aimed to fund expansion and pay back the company's debt, including money raised to pay the Indian government 86 billion rupees in one-time fees for 3G spectrum.
Besides aiming to reduce its debt and raise more capital, Reliance will also look for an investor that will bring expertise in the area of operating 3G services, says Kamlesh Bhatia, a principal research analyst at Gartner.
Australia orders probe of Google
The Australian police have been ordered to investigate Google for possible breach of privacy while taking pictures for its Street View service, writes the BBC.
Australia's attorney general said he has asked police to probe the Internet giant, following complaints that Google had gathered personal data from some unencrypted WiFi services.
Google has admitted doing so, but apologised, saying it was in error.
Adobe reports 'critical' flaws
Adobe has issued a security advisory about a "critical" vulnerability in its Flash Player and Adobe Reader and Acrobat products that it says could let attackers take control of people's computers, says CNet News.
The company said late Friday that there had been reports of the hole actually being exploited and that an official patch was not yet available.
Affected software includes Adobe Flash Player 10.0.45.2, 9.0.262, and earlier 10.0.x and 9.0.x versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Solaris; Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.3.2 and earlier 9.x versions for Windows, Macintosh, and Unix.
