Yahoo's IntoNow app now on iPad

GigaOM reports.

IntoNow launched early this year as a smartphone app that allows users to 'check in' to the TV shows they are watching and interact with friends about the content. The app also lets users 'unlock' special content and freebies if they check into certain TV commercials they watch. Yahoo subsequently acquired IntoNow in April, in a deal worth some $20 million.

According to Fast Company, not only has the acquisition continued to thrive since coming under the Yahoo umbrella, but it also actually turned around an entirely new product - and a pretty revolutionary one - just six months after walking through the door.

"Yahoo has been very good about keeping us as a team and allowing us to do what we want to do," Adam Cahan, IntoNow's founder and now a Yahoo VP, says.

The app has a green button, which has to be tapped when users are viewing live or recorded content on TV. The software will then recognise the ongoing show and give users its details, Mobiletor.com notes.

Users can discover new shows as well as share what they are currently viewing with others on Facebook and Twitter. The app provides on the iPad if friends are also watching the same show at the same time.
